A model of economy assuming moving away from extractive business models and unlocking the potential for positive contributions to nature and society.

It is a system that works to regenerate capital assets (which provide goods and services that are required for our well-being). What sets regenerative economics apart from standard economic theory is that it takes into account and gives hard economic value to the principal or original capital assets — our planet, its nature, and natural resources. Recognizing nature as the original capital asset places the true value on the human support system – the environment.

The opposite of the regenerative economy is uneconomic growth (unsustainable economic condition) – a phrase coined by leading ecological economist Herman Daly.
