CBAM

From TerGoPedia

CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) - a mechanism for adjusting prices at the borders to take into account CO2 emissions.

In other words: a carbon tax imposed on goods imported into the EU. It is intended to enable so-called "carbon leakage" and motivate third countries to be consistent with the European Union's climate change policies.

This new EU regulation is part of the Fit for 55 policy. CBAM will also be directly linked to the EU ETS (The price of certificates for these emissions will be determined by the price of weekly allowances from the EU ETS).

The initial phase of introducing the CBAM system will begin as early as October 1, 2023.
