Projects for planting trees and/or restoring broad-based biodiversity in a selected area.

Forestry projects can be conducted for a variety of purposes. One of them is to restore or introduce a forest ecosystem in a designated area. Forest planting projects can also be linked to the acquisition of carbon offsets, or emission reduction credits, from their operation, in which case they become forest sequestration projects. For a forestry project to gain sequestration status, many requirements and standards must be met regarding the project's ability to sequester CO­2e throughout its lifecycle.
