Energy derived from renewable sources, i.e., naturally replenished and/or inexhaustible by humans, such as:

  • biofuels
  • biomass
  • biogas
  • carbon-neutral fuel
  • geothermal sources
  • hydroelectric power plants
  • offshore power plants
  • photovoltaics
  • tidal power plants
  • wave power plants
  • wind power plants

Most energy sources can also be classified as sustainable sources (except for biomass, for example, the production of which raises some concerns). Currently, mankind covers around 20% of its energy requirements from renewable sources.
