A mechanism of reducing the number of greenhouse gases emitted by an event, entity or unit. It involves replacing carbon-intensive value-chain elements such as fossil fuel vehicles with renewable energy vehicles.
GHG reduction is one step on the road to carbon neutrality. According to the principle of avoiding rather than offsetting, organizations and entities should focus on preventing CO2 emissions first and only offset emissions that could not have been avoided.
